This is not--strictly speaking--a botanical work, since I have included the container that the yellow tomatoes are in. I think that my art is constantly evolving, and I am not bound by any definitions.
I am in the process of becoming a botanical artist. I first studied basic drawing and water color with an amazing artist and teacher named Cori Lapin-Cohen. She teaches at Lasdon Arboretum in Northern Westchester. Now I have decided to expand my technique by working toward a certificate in botanical illustration at the New York Botanical Garden. The NYBG is one of the premiere places in the world to be trained. The teachers are all professional artists with a passion for what they do.
